Zcash Core Dev Team Quits ECC Over Governance Clash, ZEC Drops 20%
Zcash’s primary developer team at Electric Coin Company (ECC) has quit en masse following a bitter governance dispute with the Zcash Bootstrap nonprofit’s board, announcing plans to start a new company for “unstoppable private money.” The fallout caused ZEC to plunge about 20% from near 510 dollars to around 405 dollars, wiping out recent gains amid fears over the project’s future. ECC CEO Josh Swihart accused Bootstrap of “malicious” contract changes amounting to constructive discharge, while Zcash founder Zooko Wilcox backs the foundation, assuring the network remains secure.
